INTRODUCTION OF CLOCKWORK SPADES

Clockwork Spades is a matching game created by Jamie Masculine.  In this game, players are trying to get rid of as many cards possible by matching them with the layout.  They are also trying to avoid capturing Spades as each one is a penalty point.  This is a simple game that plays similarly to Clock Solitaire.

THE CARDS & THE DEAL

To set up for Clockwork Spades, separate all of the Spades from the deck and use them to create a clock layout.  Place the Ace in the 1 position, the 2 in the 2 position and so on with the Queen sitting at the 12 o’clock position.  The King of Spades goes in the center.

Shuffle the deck, deal three cards to each player, and place it face down on the King of Spades.

THE PLAY

THE FIRST TURN

Player one must play a card on the Ace, 2 or 3.  To do this, they play any cards that match in rank from their hand.  Any Aces, 2’s, and 3’s must be played to their positions on the clock.  If a player is unable to match any Aces, 2’s or 3’s, they must pick up one of those Spade cards from the clock face.  That position on the clock is now blank.  The player can choose to pick up any of the three cards.

The collected Spade card is placed in a penalty card pile near the player.  At the end of the player’s turn, if they have fewer than three cards, they must draw back up to three.  If a player draws a King (or is dealt one at the beginning of the game), they immediately give the King to their opponent and draw another card.

THE SECOND TURN

Player 2 must play matching cards onto the 4, 5, and 6.  They follow the same steps: playing matching cards or collecting a penalty Spade card and drawing to replenish their hand if needed.   온라인슬롯

CONTINUING PLAY

On each player’s turn, they must play cards to the next three available clock positions.  If a Spade is missing from the clock, that space is skipped.  For example, if the next three clock spaces are Ace, 2 and 3, but the 2 is missing, the player must play on the Ace, 3, and 4 instead.  As play progresses, more and more Spade cards will be missing from the clock.

If a player has any cards at the beginning of their turn that would be played to a missing Spade card, those cards are immediately discarded and replaced by drawing.

When a Spade is taken from the clock with cards on top of it, the Spade is kept by the player and the other cards are discarded.

Play continues until one player wins.

ENDING THE GAME

There are two ways for the game to end.  First, the draw pile is depleted with a player drawing the King of Spades.  If that player has all four Kings, they win the game.  Second, the game ends after all of the Spade cards have been removed from the clock.  In this case, the player with fewer Spade cards wins the game.
